Temporary Programming for this school year

In response to COVID-19, our Student Ministry is hosting programs differently in this season.

Student Ministry Sunday Morning Small Groups have officially begun.

Due to COVID regulations, registration will be required each week and all students and leaders will be required to wear a face mask.

Registration for Sunday morning Equip classes will open weekly on Friday at 9am on our NextGen-Fall Registration page.

Registration for Wednesday night GROUPS will open weekly on Tuesday at 9am on our NextGen-Fall Registration page.

EQUIP

When: Sundays | 9:30am – 10:30am | September 13th – May 30th**
Who: 6th – 12th Grades
Where: SMB*
What: Equip is made up of a new selection of classes each month. These classes are designed to answer some common questions we hear from students throughout the year in group discussions with the intention of “equipping” them to grow in their own faith and to be ready to help others do the same.

Class Descriptions for Oct 18 – Nov 1

Due to COVID regulations, face masks and registration will be required each week.

**Does not meet on: Dec 27th, Jan 3rd, April 4th.

GROUPS

When: Wednesdays | 7pm – 8pm | September 16th – May 19th **
Who: 6th – 12th Grades
Where: SMB*
What: GROUPS is the student version of LifeGroups at Northeast. This time is aimed at providing accountability, belonging, and care through intentional relationships. Through games, small group conversations, prayer, and study of the Word, we believe the format of GROUPS provides our students with the best opportunity to develop a faith that will last and to provide them with a support group of adults that can last long after they finish high school. This is ultimately the place we hope all our students land as they pursue a deeper relationship with Christ.

Due to COVID regulations, face masks and registration will be required each week.

**Does not meet Dec 23rd, Dec 30th, March 10th.

What We’re About

HAVE FUN

We laugh because joy is evidence of who we are. This comes from John 10:7-10 and John 15:7-11. We believe you experience the most joy when you know Jesus and we want that to be evident in us. Faith is funnest!

DO IT TOGETHER

We hang out because we’re stronger together. The world wants us to think we’re self-sufficient, but we’re not. We’re built for community and navigating life is easier with people who care about you. Check out Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 and Hebrews 10:24-25 for more.

MAKE IT MATTER

We chase Jesus because it’s the only thing that will count in the end. Matt 16:24-27 teaches us that whoever would save his life for his own purpose will lose it, but whoever loses his life for Christ’s purposes will find it. If we’re not chasing Jesus, we’re wasting our time. Other things are important, but they will never be as important.

Bible Reading Plan

Our ministry has participated in several reading plans through the You Version Bible App. You can join our plans using the links below. It’s never too late to join and add to the conversation!

Encounter (Usually meets during the school year)

When: Sundays | 9:30am – 10:30am | June 6th – August 15th
Who: 6th – 12th Grades
Where: SMB*
What: Encounter is a worship service geared specifically for students. Through worship, a large group lesson, and a team discussion to follow, we offer students the opportunity to encounter Christ for the very first time and encourage students to grow deeper in their faith. Our goal during these meetings is to confront real life issues students face every day with the truth of Scripture. We see this service as the front door to our student ministry and is the event we encourage students to invite their friends to first at Northeast.

ENGAGE

When: Wednesdays | 6pm – 8pm | June 9th – July 28th
Who: 6th – 12th Grades
Where: SMB* & Various locations
What: Engage events are geared for students to have fun “engaging” in activities both on and off campus on Wednesday nights in the summer. These nights usually include a devotion led by one of our summer interns, followed by a night of fun. Some events are for both middle school and high school, while others will be divided up in some different ways. Engage events are a great way for our group to build community together!

D-Groups

When: Thursdays | 12pm – 2pm
Who: 6th – 12th Grades
Where: Various Locations
What: D-Groups are a chance for students to meet up for lunch once a week during the summer to discuss how to be more active in their faith. This summer, students will meet with a NextGen Intern to be challenged to live out their faith in their day-to day lives and to take another step toward Christ. Groups are divided by girls and guys. Groups meeting at restaurants will meet at the FM 3009 locations. Groups meeting in the SMB will need to bring their own lunch. Groups start at 12:00pm and will end around 2:00pm.

The Orange Philosophy

What do we mean by 'orange?' It's when the influence of the love from the family (red) and the light of the church (yellow) come together to impact the next generation. The NextGen Ministry at Northeast exists to partner with parents in the discipleship of their children. Through the celebration of faith milestones, movement along the Northeast discipleship pathway, and by creating opportunities for family faith experiences, the ministry team at Northeast serves parents and families by being a catalyst for discipleship in the home.
